Default A Shot at the Big Time?

Hey guys,

I've been playing a lot of satellite tourneys on FTP. I recently won my way into a $200+$16 "Bracelet Race" tourney for an entry into one of the smaller WSOP events. Instead of using the $216 and entering the higher tournament, though, I cashed out the entry fee into "tournament dollars" and played smaller tourneys. Although I've been doing well in the smaller sats, I'm wondering if I should still take a shot at the bigger one and try to earn a seat at the $1K or $1.5K WSOP events.

My question is: Am I a big chicken for not taking the shot, or was it a prudent money-saving move? Since I did it once, maybe I can do it again. If I get it again, should I take the shot, even though it'll cost me a chunk of my bankroll? My fate is in your hands!

If it was my case i would cash them out too. I mean i would thought a bit but in the end wouldnt hesitate. It depends now on how many participants are in the "next level" (tourney), how many seats qualify, if u are able to rebuy, if u got those money/ur budget to rebuy, if it affects that loss u in any way.. but if u mainly play on low stakes imo its better to cash them out and if u said u can do it again then try later and if u cant its better u didnt join it in the first place . If u can, continue and dont cash them out till the end:P

hope i sounded logical if not i can rewrite it

Default Thanks!

kraster,

Thanks for the advice. The tournament that I won the entry for was the "Bracelet Race". Two prizes of $2000 each are guaranteed. However, I haven't cashed much in tourneys lately and didn't want to blow all of the $216 entry fee in one shot. As it is, I've won entries into several smaller buy-in tournaments and done well (but still short of the cash), but I can't shake the feeling that somehow I "chickened out" on my WSOP shot.

Anybody else have an opinion?

Default A good rule of thumb

Something I've read about Sats and cashing out or playing is that if the money you won is life changing then take the money, otherwise play the sat so that you can win life changing money. So in your case, if $216 really changes your way of living, take it, otherwise, try to win the $2k and then decide it that is "life changing" or should you keep going to the Event.

Hope this helps.

Default I don't get it

Why play the Sat in the first place if you're not going to use the ticket?
